| live earth was on during the weekend. oh my. what a fucking hypocritical event.
first, they claim to be trying to spread awareness abt global warming and save the planet basically, but in the end they just walloped a whole chunk off energy off the earth. a 24hr concert itself = 24hrs of energy being drained nonstop. plus, it means all over the world for 244hrs there are ppl all turningon their tv and tuning in to watch it. another 24hrs of energy drained. wow. well done. they totally saved ebnergy sia. even if they did use biofuels (as they claim) its still energy largely wasted, and biofuels arent 0% carbon emmision also wad.
second, their aim is to spread awareness. how the bloody hell so? i watch a concert to hear music (if u can even call it that), not to learn. how many ppl actually went out of the concert thinking "hmm. that random artiste was right! i tink i'll go home and recycle everything!" if like that can then no need go school, just have concert then we can learn everything liao lor. werious, if this was a PW project it would fail misreably lar, cos it doesnt achive its aim in anyway.
and singapore is just too damn moronic. wear green to support it? how the bloody hell does wearing green support this cause? u tell me you rshirt got chorophyll inside then can generate energy then i say good job lah. but u walk arnd in green shirt, also doesnt achive anything, and ppl can go arnd claiming that they support this cause and want to protect he earth sia. idiots. eyepower nvr solved anything. im sure shirtpower can. seriously damn retarded move by mediacorp. want to save earth then the two days turn off the bloody tv mobile lar. waste energy, also noone watch one. and am i the only one who thought the 'we're not exxagerating' ads are damn... exxagerated?
u know wad the problem is? USA. serious. its not even a country anymore. its just a glorified oil company. and its their monopoly on the crude oil that leads to so many problems. i have no proof, but im pretty damn sure theyre slowing the alternative energy research in many a ways. cos if they, for example, manage to maximise the amt of energy converted from solar energy, suddenly solar energy becomes a truly viable (and much cheaper) alternative source of energy (as opposed to now where only a timbleful of the energy is fully harnessed). if solar energy becomes viable, who the hell would want to use the more harmful oils? then the us will either have to reduce the cost of oil like shitload (and maek a loss), or shift their investment to alternative energy (and lose money too). thats why the alternative energy tech is majorly impeded. (ironic then that its al gore starting this movement eh) lets face it, you look at teh pace at wich we develop our guns and planes and bombs and wat other war machines, and the way solar panels have became more efficient, its seriously messed up. if all the money and effort put into killing each other and overthrowing dictators can be put into more useful and environmentally friendly purposes, we wouldnt be in this shit right now.
ahwell. ive ranted long enough. we're quite screwed anyway. i think the only viable option is to terraform mars and leech of 2 planets at once to buy us more time. or as stephen baxter's Open Loops suggest, we could just leave the planet entirely and begin life in space itself, extracting resources off asteroids and meteors, and sustaingin life in an environment rquiring a mere fraction of the energy required to do work on earth. its quite interesting. read it :)
